love. actually.

i've been reading the giver.
well actually, i read the giver.
(it's a real short book when your reading speed has increased since you read it last.)
but.
there's a part where jonas asks his parents if they love him.
and he is immediately punished for not using "precise" language.
his parents claim that love is too broad of a term...that it's become obsolete in their perfect world.

i don't think love is too broad or too specific, but maybe it's overused in this far from perfect world.

every taylor swift song throws the word "love" around like a big, bouncy ball.
(if love were as easy as showing someone a piece of paper or wearing a fancy dress, taylor, then i'm pretty sure you'd be out of a job.)

i don't want to come across as jaded or bitter about this.
i know that love exists and that it's real, but i'm just bored with the whole unified representation of it.

that it has to be easy.
that it always works.
that it makes sense.

because i don't know love like that.

this is california, mother lover!

here's a little sumthin sumthin from california.
(i'm writing this post while listening to "girlfriend" by avril lavigne. this might explain a lot.)

this is our first pit stop on our trip. i told andrea and emy that there was a GINORMOUS rocking chair and that we HAD to see it.
turns out...not that big.
not that awesome.
sorry, beaver.

this is the first picture after we arrived in california. notice the perfectly greased hair and face.
classy.
the bed that we are laying on made me laugh for about 5 minutes.
maybe it's an old people thing to sleep on a fancy mattress that gives you the same results as putting sheets on phone books and calling it a bed.

emy and steve.
this is in san diego.

this is at steve's show in upland, ca.
i'm not really sure what there is to do in upland except walk around "downtown" and pretend like you're in gilmore girls.
i know that's what i did.

on the way home, we stopped at in-n-out.
and instead of fighting off some sweaty, vegas-goers for a table, we went to the wendy's across the street and ate in their dining room.
and that was...
the height of class.
